Welcome to reality. In principle teacher should follow rules that specify equal rewards for good performance, but in truth teachers and classroom monitors often succumb to personal preferences. Some simply lack the training to treat students equally. Due to long-standing traditions, they think it's natural to help friends before helping people they don't know as well. I suspect you will find this some pattern of rewards among bosses when you begin working. Some won't care about fairness. But don't quit greeting your teacher or your monitor because you've lost scholarship opportunities. You should not only greet them, but also ask them how they're doing and praise them hard work. After you do this for a semester or two, apply again for a scholarship. Whether or not you get it, you'll know you've prepared yourself well to compete in class and later on to vie for rewards in the workplace.
